This dining table table features a large 9’x5′ glass top sitting on a base crafted from a 2.25″ thick slab of hickory. The tree was recovered from the woods of Maryland, having fallen during Hurricane Sandy. The base was constructed to take advantage of the extraordinary character of this piece of wood, allowing the grain to flow over the waterfall leg on one side. A hole in the wood was strategically placed on the corner, allowing diners to see through the table to the floor. The other end of the table is supported by a 2″ thick piece of clear acrylic, giving the table the illusion of floating on just one leg. The distinctive design, combined with a one-of-a-kind piece of wood make this a truly unique work of art.
